Aroma & Character

Dried sea buckthorn berries are considered a superfood as they are full of valuable substances. However, the small hard seeds make the berries difficult to eat. This is why sea buckthorn tea is a popular alternative. Infused with hot water, you extract the best ingredients from the small berries. Sea buckthorn tea has a pleasant fruity flavor. The berries contain a lot of vitamin C, which makes the taste very sour and tart. This is why sea buckthorn tea is often sweetened with honey or mixed with herbal teas such as rooibos, mint, camomile or thyme, which balance out the acidity. Ginger adds a warming spiciness that harmonizes well with the tangy acidity of sea buckthorn. Sea buckthorn tea can be enjoyed both hot and cold. You can find out more about its preparation and effects in this article. Please note: sea buckthorn berries contain butyric acid. It plays an important role in the body, especially in the intestines, where it serves as a nutrient for the cells of the intestinal mucosa and can have anti-inflammatory properties. However, the acid gives the berries an odor that many people find unpleasant. This is completely normal and does not mean that the berries are bad.

Origin

Our sea buckthorn berries come from the untouched, natural regions of Transylvania, where the harsh but fertile climate provides ideal conditions for the development of these nutrient-rich fruits. In the picturesque hilly and mountainous landscapes, the wild sea buckthorn bushes grow under optimal natural conditions. The berries are traditionally harvested by hand to ensure they are fully ripe and of the highest quality. This region of Romania has been known for generations for its wild, robust sea buckthorn deposits – a true treasure trove of nature that is prized for its unadulterated purity. This is also verified by German laboratory analyses of each batch.
