Aroma & Character
Mate Tea has a strong, earthy aroma that is characterized by tart, slightly smoky notes. A soft, creamy sensation spreads through the mouth. The taste is intense and full of character, with a slight bitterness and a fresh, grassy undertone. The tea delivers a smooth but long-lasting energy that makes it a popular drink throughout the day.
Origin
Mate Tea from Brazil comes mainly from the south of the country, from regions such as Rio Grande do Sul, Paraná and Santa Catarina. Here, the Yerba Mate plant thrives under ideal climatic conditions. The leaves are harvested by hand, dried and ground into a fine powder.
Specialities
Mate Tea, often called “chimarrão” in Brazil, is traditionally made from the leaves of the Yerba Mate plant(Ilex paraguariensis). In South America, Mate is cut particularly finely and served in a calabash, where it is drunk with a special drinking tube (bombilla). Mate is known for its high content of caffeine, theobromine and antioxidants. It not only promotes alertness and stamina, but is also valued for its digestive properties. The long-lasting energy of mate provides a balanced feeling of alertness without nervousness.
Our Mate Tea is tested in a German laboratory by Fresenius to ensure the highest quality and purity.
