Origin
Our Pi Lo Chun is grown in Sanshia Town in Taipei City, Taiwan – a region known for its outstanding green tea quality. The subtropical climate, coupled with frequent fog and mineral-rich soils, creates ideal conditions for the development of a multi-layered aroma and intense fruitiness. The local teamasters from Sanshia have succeeded in adapting the original Chinese tea variety to the special characteristics of the local terroir, creating a tea that is not only mild, but also unmistakably aromatic and fruity.
Specialities
Translated, “Pi Lo Chun” stands for “green spring snail”. The Chinese like to give their teas picturesque names that refer to the shape of the processed leaves. Although the origins of Pi Lo Chun lie in China, the tea has developed into a specialty in its own right in Taiwan. Due to the specific soil conditions and the expertise of the Taiwanese teamasters, this variety has developed into a distinctive green tea with a deep fruitiness and a unique, flavorful structure. The artful production method, in which the tea leaves are carefully rolled into small spirals by hand, demonstrates the highest level of craftsmanship and brings out the full aroma spectrum of the tea.
