Aroma & Character

Lapsang Souchong develops a distinctive smoky note that runs through all infusions and makes the tea an unmistakable experience. The first infusion has a balanced, smoky aroma with a slightly fruity nuance and the distinctive character of a classic black tea. The smoky note, reminiscent of bacon , is strong but harmoniously embedded in the spicy profile of the tea. The smoky intensity is also retained in subsequent infusions, bringing out the deep, resinous aroma again and again without losing any of its presence. A tea with a lasting smoky taste and a full, spicy character.

Schwarzer Tee, Pu Erh
China Fujian:

Origin

This Lapsang Souchong comes from the Chinese province of Fujian, a region with a long tradition in the cultivation and processing of smoky teas. The proximity to resin-rich pine forests provides the perfect conditions for smoking the tea and gives Lapsang Souchong its characteristic smoky intensity and typical pungent smoky note.

Specialities

Lapsang Souchong is a traditional specialty that stands out due to its special production process. Unlike many other black teas, larger, more mature souchong leaves from the lower parts of the tea bushes are used here. After fermentation, these leaves are roasted in hot iron pans and then smoked over resin-rich pine wood. This smoking process, the duration of which varies depending on the variety, gives the tea its typical smoky intensity. Lapsang Souchong is known for its strong smoky notes, which blend harmoniously with the spicy character of the tea and make it a unique treat for lovers of smoky flavors.
