Aroma & Character

Oriental Beauty Oolong offers a floral, honey-sweet aroma that develops an elegant, gently mineral character with notes of forest honey and orchid. The first infusion is particularly sweet and soft on the palate, with a slight hint of malty cookie dough and a long-lasting honey note. The second infusion brings the floral accents of the orchid to the fore, accompanied by mineral and woody notes.

China Yunnan:

Origin

Oriental Beauty originally comes from Taiwan. This Oriental Beauty Oolong comes from a small, hidden plantation in the mountains of Yunnan and is cultivated by Taiwanese tea masters who have perfected the production of this fine tea. The tea plants here benefit from the Taiwan-like climate and the influence of the red cicada . The mineral-rich soil and temperate weather give the tea its intense aroma and the depth typical of Yunnan teas. Taiwanese tea masters tend the plants here and bring out the special features of the Yunnan terroir perfectly in this variant of Oriental Beauty Oolong.

Specialities

What is avoided at all costs with other plants is highly valued with Oriental Beauty: insects preying on the plant. Oriental Beauty Oolong is known for its unique honey sweetness and delicate floral aroma, which is created when the red cicada bites into the tea leaves. This bite triggers an enzymatic reaction in the leaves, which intensifies the honey and floral arom a and gives the tea its incomparable sweetness. The leaves are only harvested in summer, when the cicadas are active, which makes Oriental Beauty a precious tea. The tea is also traditionally highly oxidized, which makes it particularly full-bodied and aromatic compared to other oolongs.
